Our animals - who lives at east lowfields?

Our 'Tog' goats

Our 'Tog' goats

In January 2026, we added 6 Toggenburg goats to our farm. Madelaine (our eldest), Maggiedee, Gladden and Florin are expected to have kids in Spring and we also have Marigilda and Maximillia who are both kids. We hope to milk our goats in the future but for now, we just love having them at the farm.

Bees

In 2025, we added our first two beehives. Bees are really important to our vision at the farm and we were able to harvest plenty of blossom and heather honey at the end of our first season. In 2026, we are adding 'Teddy's apiary' which will include four more hives.

Chickens

Zwartle sheep

We have a range of breeds of chickens who do an excellent job of pecking the grass around the farm. Our chickens are completely free range at the moment an they produce plenty of delicious eggs. We have chickens that lay brown eggs and also have araucana chickens which lay blue eggs.

Regenerating the land

Zwartle sheep

Seven zwartble sheep were introduced at the farm in Autumn 2025 and we finished lambing these in February 2026. 8 beautiful, healthy lambs are now part of the family and when they are back in the fields, they will help us manage and improve the land around the farm.

Our dogs

We have two cross-breed dogs called Golly and Kiwi. They are slightly insane and make life significantly more interesting / difficult by just having endless amounts of love and energy, between them. They are great fun though and life is better for having them around us.

The animals will play a significant role in what we want to do at East Lowfields. As well as giving us a range of produce to eat, drink and potentially sell, we will also  move them across the land in a way that most benefits the land and regenerates the soil and the plant life.

Our animals in our blogs

At East Lowfields Farm, our vision is to create a sustainable farm life. Whether it's about the choices we make regarding what we grow, how we grow it, or the animals we may or may not keep on our family farm, all our decisions are focused on ensuring they benefit the environment we live in. As a smallholding, we are committed to practices that promote ecological balance and sustainability.
